Watch the World Go By

Standing at the lakeside
surrounded by hills nearby
what glorious sight
looking up at bright blue sky

Nearby the waters run
flowing from nearby spring
what peace and calm
oh a wondrous thing

The world seeks our heart
to lure us from our calm
but what can it give
when at peace I am

An ease of mind and spirit
let the world go by
what tranquillity of heart
ready for the day I die
