"The blackbirds sing to herald spring Quote by poet" When birds prepare to produce young I know for sure that spring has sprung The adult birds will try their best to gather twigs then build a nest In time their eggs begin to hatch the parents then have got to catch worms, caterpillars and lots of flies as hungry mouths need huge supplies It is a most delightful thing when new fledglings take to wing and make their first flight in the sky I just adore seeing them fly The blackbird sings his sweetest song he’ll never get any notes wrong Robins and bluebirds join the chorus heralding that spring’s arrived for us Spring Birds Poetry Contest Sponsored by Constance La France 02/26/21

Thanks Jan for this delightful poem. Often I take a few moments in the morning to listen for songs of the birds in my neighborhood. And I once was privileged to watch a mother wren push her young out of the nest for their first fluttered flight.

A great entry and love your bird's chorus at the end with the robins, bluebirds and blackbirds all joining in heralding that Spring is here! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Many congratulations Jan for your sweet poem, there is nothing better than being able to witness this magical gift from mother nature. Last year I watched as black winged gulls hatched 2 gorgeous spotty chicks... With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Hello Jan … blackbirds are the dominant bird in our back yard. A friend of mine got irate over a blackbird imitating his telephone ringing. All the same, the blackbird has a wonderful morning song - thank you Jan - Lindsay

What a delightful tribute to the joy spring birds add to our lives after cold winters. There is a bird-watching site nearby and I've always enjoyed visiting. Surely a big win in the contest, Jan! Hugs, Carolyn
