Wasted My Time

Wasted my time in the most unkempt ways
Arguing with myself about things that mattered not
Steering clear of the wise risks others took
Laughing at them behind my angry back
Not realizing they were going to become themselves
While I would forever remain a copy of a facsimile of myself
Dreaming of the real me, but making no effort to realize her.

Wasted my time droning in my head
Expecting the worst, sorry when I did not get it
My paradigm not changing a whit
No matter how many contradictions I saw
Remaining stagnant, while the others blossomed
Angrier now that I did not take any risks at all,
never truly living in this flesh body.
Except in a world where my eyes were tightly shut.
