Was This a Dream
The evenings cool became tempered.
The dreams made light of the day
There in shadows were fearful things
Yet the light shone brightly in the room
What is it I asked that things are unbalanced
A journey into thoughts, I heard echoing
The day had been long and unbearable
Though sanity prevailed in a pureness
I have lost control of rationality I sobbed
Stop this instantly came loud and clear
Above the dream state a peace descended
It drove me deeper into a restful state.
The fearful shadows shrank, light came in.
Who or what are you? That brings such a peace.
I heard my muffled voice squeak out.
“I am reality that comes with your rationality”
What else could I think in that evenings glow?
I woke and walked to the window as if dreaming
There outside fireflies played as if dancing
I thought I could hear their wings singing
In an instant all became clear to me
Holding fear in evening’s special dark
Would only unsettle the mind in dreams
I returned to where I would sleep well..
