Warmth
Today the sun shone, first time in a long time
White clouds of soft cotton plough the blue sky in thin wispy formation
No wind, rain, fog, just bright heat
Beams thread their silver into our room, the glass that protected us from the cold
Becomes a sheet of warm, displaying the solar vista
Seems the birds know this value, they sing in welcome
Bringing life to the sunlit trees as the land around us wakes
It is still deep in winter yet almost as if spring shows its sleepy head
Skin warms, eyes adjust, alive, enjoyment, happiness
Casting rays pick out the motes of dust floating in the air around
So comes the sun into our room, opening up our eyes, bringing a new view
The wood, fabrics regaining colour, as if welcoming the receding dark exchanged for light
We laugh a little as exposed are all the dark hidden corners awaiting the cloth, the vacuum
But for now, we sit, marvel and soak in the feelings this moment brings
Feeling somehow more human, more at peace
Realising just how much we have missed the natural warmth
