War of the Mind

on my fathers feet i stand
i feel sweat on my back
i'm fighting a war
war of the mind
i'm fighting myself
my inmost being
i ain't seeing nothing
yet trying hard to aim at something
i want to fight to the finish

now i feel what my fathers felt
i see what i was not able to see
even from the window of a plane
that which my fathers saw
while they sat on their seats
in the common room
i'm fighting a war
war of the mind
i hope to defeat the state
my state of mind
this i can not lose
i'll fight to the death
until victory is won
