War

Can you hear the hearts breaking in this town,
The pain shared all around,
Hear the silence that shatters their souls,
The bullets leaving behind bloody holes?

Can you see the rain falling down to wash away
The tears building up every day,
See the blood red roses crushed on the concrete
Under the lights of the street?

Can you taste the poison left inside,
The feeling of wanting to run and hide,
Taste the defeat of a long-forgotten outcast,
A waving flag held at half-mast?

Can you feel the burning pain of sorrow,
The hope for a better tomorrow,
Feel the sufferings of the children crying out
What is this war all about?
