War

Tragedy strikes
But no one is prepared
Without warnings
Without an alarm
They came and conquerd

Never did our people know
this would be a day of history
For the enemy has attacked us
And now even the closest
Of our friends are dead

The battle has begun
The war has started
Vengeance is ours
For the land of our freedom
And for our country we fight

Couldn't help but think of my college debate partner who died in the World Trade Center attack on 9/11. Your poem highlights the sadness and vulnerability we feel when attacked unexpectedly "without an alarm." While the perpetrators did not conquer us, we lost many American lives trying to find Bin Laden and still haven't succeeded. Very thought-provoking write, Jessica! Love, Carolyn

Hi Jess, I spent my life in Hawaii for almost nine years and whenever I see Pearl Harbor it reminds me of that tragedy. Thank you for your warm and welcome comment on my First Kiss. Ernilando

Nice ryhning poetry. But sadly... a war is never something to be proud of when your child, for instance, would be among the innocent victims. There are other type of wars with more efficient results thru' obeying UN... since "a war" appears to be a sad chain.
