Wanted: Dead Or Alive
Going once,
Going twice.
sold to the desolate soul in the far-left corner
the one half-dead with tear-soaked cheeks
intoxicated memories
choking down something
from her parent's liquor cabinet
at fifteen
searching for an answer
carved in the stars
a constellation pointing anywhere but
here is the answer: to stay or to go?
Go far away-- run away, girl
toss regret as a rock into the ocean
it skipped four times then drowned
bury a casket of damned dreams
let them die.
Go, escape with the wind
from old friends’ memories you surely will fade
they will not hurt
so don’t you worry
a sigh of relief
your past will stay just that.
Freedom, sold to the girl in the back.
