Want of More

Neath six feet below.
Lie his old bones.
A causality of war.
As Millions before.
The Young with the Old.
Those rich or poor.
For Want of More.
A Human Resource.
Neath cold gray stone.
Engraved Unknown.
Lie his old bones.
Forever Alone.

""War eats up the good and the brave It tramples the righteous right down Only the wickedness it saves. Too oft is serves only the Crown." Verses remembered from one of my very old poems. Your short poem is a fav for me.. God bless.

Sad, isn't it? Can't even say that 'Misery Loves Company' in this case. When it's all said and done, what is war all about except defending some ruler's name, position, oil, wealth, ambition, etc. ... Every once in a while you find a war of extermination against you, and you have to fight. Other than that, feh!

This exquisite piece of poetry magnificently captures the abominable toll of sacrifice endured by both soldiers and civilians amidst the ravages of war. My friend, your verse is truly exceptional.

I think any soldier is an enormous soul and hero. Without them, we would never be free. We all end up beneath the earth, and will be forgotten. The selfless and the selfish….alike. The givers and the takers…..alike. Many bodies of soldiers were blown to snithereens, some burned to ashes.they have never been found, Thousands sleep with fishes, Remember Pearl Harbor! And those who perished in the Pacific or plane crashes? Great poem..Pangie

Because they save countries from such sweet souls as a Mussolini and Hitler and I’m glad I can’t think of the Russian leader. We don’t understand that some crazy group can come to our door and kill us, do we? A line from a movie… so if some terrorists come to your door, who are you gonna call? Ghostbusters! Have you ever heard of the holocaust? I am sure you have. Find out what idiot leaders do. The parlor patriot” is no hero. They think they can solve the war by talking about even it evil men do evil things.. Or do you not think that the thousands of American sailors that died in Pearl Harbor nothing? We were bombed by Japan. We were not even in the war then? So no, not all people sit around writing pretty poetry some did die for us. I’d like to see one poet, give up their life for one other poet. Never ever will happen. RJ.. feel free to soupmail me, anytime. Thank you for sharing.. Pangie Romios
