Wanderer
I wandered over hills and dales the wind against my back
salmon running in the streams but I never learnt the knack
among the fields of buzzing bees and butterflies a flutter
distant sounds of thunder now sending wild birds to scatter
I wandered near the ocean next to see a blue-green sea
run my hands through yellow sand saw seagulls wild and free
kicked my feet in rolling waves as they neared the shore
if the ocean was not so far away I would visit here much more
I wandered through a bustling town visited galleries full of art
museums and posh playhouses not quite sure where to start
sipped tea in an outdoor cafe and watched the people rushing by
I could not live here anyway- seems the weather's rarely dry
Then to the zoo oh! what a lark-I even saw a tiger
panda's, penguins, polar bears and huge great ugly spider
days of fun spent in the sun but, I can tarry here no longer
its costing me a fortune all these trips out as I wander
But, the days I really love the best and let there be no doubt
are those I spend at home with you-not even going out
for wherever I may wander there is no place I would rather be
than drinking tea just you and me and watching the TV.
