Wally World

Walls are built
and
walls are breached
over the top
and
underneath.
Monsters mingling
with the innocent
, clawing their way in.
Fingers pointing
like dirty socks in the wind.
Walls will go up
and
walls will crash down.
Walls bloom with graffiti
and political clowns.
A symbol of fear and hate?
or a dog-eared political card.
Most people I know
cage their windows
and fence in their yard.
Is it about protection
or election-year gold?
One thing is certain: walls make the heartbeat
a little colder.
