Walking Winter
Shoe fall night
Feet in a hurry to imprint the earth
Coconut snow and the moon
in a bubble of ice
Asphalt to reach
Kissing the ground and leaving
it's tread
Brisk falling icicles breaking
the sound
Air gone blue to still
Crunch and hurry
Back to the warmth of two cats
and a stove
Piercing the skin of the frost at the door
and welcoming solitude home.
Reminder to self:
In the near future,
bring extra psyche or ear muffs
at least
when venturing out in the winter
alone.
