Walking On a Trail One Day
walking on a trail one day,
i was stopped by a lady who asked me if i was that poet
i said i do not know to whom you are referring to
then she said 'poetic lefty'
with pride, i replied, 'why yes, it is i'
the lady then asked 'what happened to you and the haiku'
i told that i did not know that she was such a fan of my educated guesses
she said that i was quite deep and oftentimes reflective
i told her i just do it without the weight of definition or meaning
she then said well whatever your meaning meant, it meant something to me
she bid me farewell and told me to have a good day
i wished her the same and then stood still for a moment to let that experience sink in
i guess you never know how many rock are in a river
you never know how much underwater wildlife is in the ocean
of course, you never ever know in this life the intentions of woman or man
words are another story altogether
i walk on and smile brightly
