Walking In the Dark

as i walk forward
all i see is the straight narrow path
i see it all coming closer and closer to the end
i walk and my legs begin to go numb.
i see nothing but the grim fate ahead.
i see everything that i have ever done
flash before my eyes.
i feel everything i have ever felt
flow throughout my body
i smell the sweetest smells i've ever smelt
and then, nothing
i see only what is in front of me
i see my gallows,
i see my gun
i see my life
at its end
