Notes About The Poem

Painting by Lin Lane

Walking Hand In Hand

She danced into my life three years ago as if she'd been born with Angel wings. My granddaughter, Eloise; a star aglow, twirling in a ballerina skirt as she sings... words of Taylor's song, "I'll write your name." Summer was filled with playing house for us, and a visit two blocks away to a Snowball stand. For Elle, it was never a decision to make a fuss of a flavor to choose as we walked, hand in hand. She only cared about which color. It was a game. The painting I posted was from a photo of her sitting on the shelf as her blue ice treat was made. Days spent with Eloise are like a sweet liqueur, and the bond of affection we share will never fade. She has a baby sister, Grace. I love just the same.

Oh Lin, the picture is just charming you have captured her perfectly !I have watched Elle grow up into the most adorable little lady and the way she is with her baby sister Grace is so lovely to see. A MASSIVE fave! I hope you print the poem out for her parents and for Elle when she is older - this amazing picture would make the most beautiful birthday/gift card too! hugs Jan xx

Thank you so sincerely for all of your lovely thoughts, Jan. You certainly have watched Elle grow up with me. "More pictures!" I get from you every week. lol It will be given to her parents as a gift. I'll hate parting with it, but one day I hope it hangs in her home. Now, I'm getting teary.
