Walking Away

Do you know when to walk away from people who use you? It can be challenging to discern when you are helping someone or when they're just using you. 

Walking away

Today is a good day
To walk away from you
Walking away from your drama
Walking away from being used

For months you moaned about him
For months you played the martyr
But all that has finally happened
Is that you're back in his arms

Too afraid to be alone 
Too eager to be at the whims of your delusions
You'll never achieve true happiness
If you can't defeat your demons

I don't hold it against you
Being weak is part of being human
Only you can choose your path
But, please leave me out of your ruins

For I am walking away now
I'll forgive and try to forget
I hope that you'll be (truly) happy together
While I pursue my own enlightenment

Ink Empress August 28, 2023 at 1:06 PM This happens way too often, iv seen so many stuck in toxic relationships, unable to walk away, perhaps it is the fear of unknown or too comfortable in setting a comfort zone from a place that is suffocating, the way you’ve written this is so refreshing for me, so straight on point, and powerful! I guess I'm tired of being used to fix others who don't really want to be fixed. It is upsetting and emotionally draining. I do appreciate your support and encouragement. Blessings and best wishes.
