Walking and Breathing
I walk and breathe
And breathe and walk.
Listen to the sounds
Of children and chalk.
I smile at the pictures
Drawn with great care
Pink and purple flowers
In pixies' sidewalk lair.
I smell at the rain
That surely soon falls
And listen to the birds
Singing their calls.
The sun is warm,
And thaws my old bones
Today it's welcome peace
Contentedness clones.
Happiness suffused
I embrace momentary joy
Living just in this moment
Passing lawn-abandoned toys.
Of late, I've too much emotion
From heartache seething
But this moment, I appreciate
Walking and breathing.
