Walk the Dog

Long ago with time your friend
A favor makes a mother proud
Dog with a collar, leash in your hand
Off you went to walk the dog

Starting out in innocence
The dog enamored by the smells
Pulling forward sets your gait
Everything so new and somehow great

In your hands, another life
Fully just depends on you
Kindness makes the doggie wag
Two different minds a cord subdues

Follow fast your furry friend
One driven by a different sense
While neighbors celebrate the sight
As two like one explore delight

We long again to walk the dog
Experience the timeless wander
Find a moment, wonder true
The purest state of purpose you
