Walk of Decision

As she walks along the tree lined road
She thinks of all the things she’d leave
But this time she would be honest
And not allow her emotions to deceive

The comforting crunch of the carpet of leaves beneath her steps
Gave a rhythm to her walk and somehow lent her strength
The battle between her religion and her contentment
She had contemplated at great length
But all the years had taken their toll and she now was full of resentment

She’d never allowed herself to want more than what she had
So many needs had been forgotten so many needs had gone unmet
And now she wanted them all in her head
She wouldn’t allow herself to forget

She had convinced herself that this was her life
And she must learn to tolerate
But now she understood that she was disappearing beneath the weight
She looked honestly at the good times and honestly at the bad
And realized that even the times that were good were tainted and sad

And as she walked a power gained from somewhere deep within
Her thoughts were much clearer than she could ever remember when
The plan began to form in her mind of all that she must do
The decision was made and would be hard but she would carry it through

Don’t ever count a woman out for when you think she’s down
Deep within her body is a soul that will astound
She’ll find the place where she draws strength the part that keeps her sane
No matter the battle she goes through her essence will remain

this is amazing! i love how you just tell it how it is. The words you wrote and so strongly stated... This is true when a woman is down there is something inside that sparks come out and then the person pushed themselves.. Well done! Elizabeth

Amen, sister! I have decided to stand and be counted. I'll be fair and try my hardest to make things work but if that is not enough I will leave and if put to the test, I will fight with everything that is inside me.!!! Awesome and perfectly penned write. Deep and rich. Love, Robin

The last stanza sums up my Mom...a strong woman who has come back more time from hardship than I can count. Never count a strong, resillent out when she is down, that is when she is most strong...great write friend.
