Walk Away
I have been walking in a dark cave
For quite a long time
Never felt more caged and jailed
As if I’ve committed a heinous crime!
Demons live under our beds they say
You live in the house and come
To my bed everyday
It’s much more than what you tear away!
I closed my eyes to what I feel and see
Defeated and bruised I stand up
And walk to that door
Hurt slowly seeping out of my core!
The knife digging into my spirit
Threatening to pierce my soul
I choose not to ignore it any more
Strength I carry with a patient heart
I now chose to make a brand new start
Those who suffer have an eye for suffering
I’ve come to understand life is an exchange
You lose something and yet you gain
That’s a simple deal
But no one tells you what to do
Till you yourself stand up from
The shame you feel, and walk away!
