Wake Up

Can you feel the prick
needle so deep
I feel it plunge into the deepest flesh
The numbing anesthetic-
Lights out
And I have time travelled-
The air is heavy,
I taste copper on my tongue
It’s a matter of life
Taking into consideration
The echoes on my heart
I find grace in terrible situations
Terrible consequences
Do I flee?
Or do I stay
And face my demons from another life
Succumbing me to despair
I can wake up now.

There is such an anxiety to being put to sleep and your poem shows some of that through memories. Very nice. Interesting topic.
