Wake Me Up

Wake me up, I’m drowning. Fell off my throne, Lost my crown, And now, I forget what’s it’s like to be ahead. I think I wrote it down, But I forgot what you said. One day I had to look into their eyes, I had to pull reins on the tears, And spill out lies. And I wrote on my hand, “Don’t forget what this is like.” Next time you walk to the edge. You can’t run away this time. I have no tears left to cry. None left for you and I. My heart beats blood, But my eyes are dry. And if I keep hanging on, without a reason why. I’ll sell myself short, Bleed myself dry.
