Waiting To Be Free

Waiting to be free

I am dying, but not like anybody who died.
I am living, but in the rainbow, I do reside.
How much longer will I go until secrets unveil?
My mind cannot comprehend, but my heart will decide.
My problems are too simple, my remedy complex;
Love is my medicine, which I have identified.
Destination is unknown; the journey is too short,
My vehicle is broken, and our driver is mystified.
My body is a cage; my soul is shackled inside.
Speak not of troubles; my pain will be justified.
The door is half open; I can see the ray of love,
My heart will take over until we’re all unified.
Tomorrow, I will fly with swallows; they know the path.
Who can you trust “Haloo”? There is no one to confide.

1/25/16 Haloo

I dedicate this poem to Daniel Turner, for all his love and friendship.

Im having a hard time understanding this style of writing. I'll have to explore this sometime. Is it unified or complex??? Help me. I'm vexed.

Hi, Holly This is a good example of ghazal (shoter version of quasida)! I have few other examples with refrain and without. It is rather complex. Poetry soup has an explanation and example about this form. You can always email me if you need more info....Pashang

So this is the refrain-less ghazal then. I must say it's a marvelous piece, with lots to ponder. "My vehicle is broken, the driver is mystified" ... Really liked this line here, as well as your swallow metaphor at the end. A good tribute. I forget who is Haloo again? I remember someone asking that but I forget the answer.

Hi Tim Thank you very much for kind words. Yes, this is refrain less! The soup explain Ghazal, but you have to be able to read Arabic. The soup says " A ghazal may or may not have a maqta (refrain) but if it does, it has to be the last sher of the ghazal" (Sher means lines in a poem, couplets). Regarding Haloo, it means gullible, naive! another story! I am The one!...

Love is truly the medicine. I had to do something to express my appreciation. As you said, the voice of many, sings a louder sound. God bless you too my friend.
