Waiting On Wildlife

I sat and waited for you tonight.
The air became thick with dusk
pouring down the hill
filling the forest with pools of shadow.

I waited patiently for you,
making smoke rings, sitting very still.
But you chose a different path today
that led you aimlessly elsewhere.

Yet I came in content if not complete
There are endless twilights left for me
To sit and wait and hope that you will come.
