Waiting In the Wings

Your voice is trembling,
I hear above the rafters.
The silence that haunted yesterday,
Is new pestilence,
Birthing the lies that creep up behind you,
When you tell yourself, "It's alright".
The valleys and the gorges that you've intended,
Are lattice-shaped hatred with a blade.
I dare not speak,
For I may shatter in the midst of my beloved,
Your beautiful and morbid melody plays.
Play on my dear sweet,
Never would I dream to stop you,
Never would I let you catch me way up here.
The bruises under your eyes change color with the light.
Lavender,
Switch to dark,
Violet,
Illumination,
Lavender.
Rest for thee is untaken and uncherished.
Even now the regal nigh chimes,
Don't remind my beloved for thy beloved will still stir.
Splinters in my palms and no voice,
My breathing coming in too fast,
Too fast...
All at once.
You still play on and on and on,
I wait in the wings.
The whimper from the sweet lips of my love is just as lovely as any compostition,
Any masterpiece stolen,
Any pagan goddess of love and beauty.
Sweet and sad song may lay dead on your lips,
But on mine there has never been anything more delicious.
Words drop swift but haunt hand over fist,
Like your own living conviction..
Almost just as though your abiding death were meant to be.
Quivering countenance and eyes wet with dismay,
Your whim has come to be numb as it may.
Need I change you not.
The unfeeling self loather you have become,
A ghost to most,
A monster to many,
And an eternal paramour to me.
Cast out have I become for you and abandoned everything I own and know.
Living for damnation with you,
The wishes you had are through.
Mine won't be forgotten..
For I will be you.
As you were once me...
Waiting in the wings.
