Waiting For the Fire

I’ve watched with terrified eyes, as the world around me burns from the flame. It started with a spark but as every fire does, it swallowed everything I loved. Like a statue I stood, in the center of the burning flame. I did not have control. I was just like everything else, more food to be engulfed. So I stood there waiting for the fire to take me, But it never did. I waited for hours, days and years. I waited to be taken. I did not want to live without the one person I needed. He was always better at living than I. And yet, in the end, he was the one who couldn't stay.

I felt your passion in this love poem. I pray in time that you are able to fill that void with memories of your shared time together.
