Waiting

WAITING

He waited his lifetime for her;
she was just waiting for a bus.

It was raining so he offered his umbrella;
she took it and left it by her door on a hook.

“It leaked”, she said, not wanting to give it back.
His heart leaked through his eyes.

For the promise of her sunshine he waited;
all she brought was rain.

Now winter has frozen the bus stop;
it is cold, dry and empty.

He no longer waits;
she is no longer wet.

This is so beautiful, that difference (or indifference from her side?) of expectations... It feels so sad, but makes for wonderful poetry.
