Waiting

You waited, In the dark shadows of the green thing Rocking back and forth to the beat of the seconds. 'Till I sensed nothing and wandered out Rising to your opportunity. With the strength of an celestial beast You tore me to shreds Deserted my destroyed carcass In the middle of the Sahara For the flies, Buzzing around and surveying the damage. “You’ll be fine”. Marital collateral damage. I waited In the dry empty place Praying for the breath to leave my lungs And release me And yet Anxious fingers furiously scan the bottles As I spread a generous helping of your perfume On the sheets And the pillows And the towels. to lure you back through tangible imagination. Lying in the dark room Collecting pieces of myself On the fragrant sheets I waited.
