Waiting

we wait today
heads bowed
for news of you
good or bad
we shift from foot to foot and say
I knew this would come,
would happen one day
we clasp our hands
we cast our eyes
to us, this is certainly no surprise
we're late
we're early
we'll never know
the heat overcomes us
inside we are frozen
throats choked up
hearts thundering
speaking in whispers
anxiety
multiples
