Waiting
I have been standing here on the corner
Waiting, waiting for you to come
I have been standing on the corner
Waiting, waiting to hear your song
I have been observing the apparatus of nature
And the will that draw us closer
Big heart, big mind, and a spirit that is sublime
I’ve been waiting to meet you for the longest while
But destiny will not give me a bligh
The days get longer, the nights appears shorter
And Godot is hiding around the corner
The sun is up and noisy men are loading the mini bus
School children are walking up and down the street
And their tongues are lashing to the country beat
They are embroiled in deep chatter
And burst out occasionally in rowdy laughter
They always have something to talk about
Because they have nothing to think about
All type of people are walking about
Inquisitive men that will not bend
Pissing on the wall and creating a brawl
Others are piecing together their Christmas plans
And the woman sitting behind the counter has no bother
Her face is relaxed her countenance is sharp
And her spirit is very intact
The traffic is coming and going
and the noise is overtly confusing
The sound of courage keeps echoing in the deep
And my army is too much for you to compete
But the stillness of my mind
Saturates the battle that is raging outside
I have been waiting for you for so long
Waiting to sing our victory song
I just can’t imagine what it would be like
To walk gracefully on the big stage for the first time
The crowd will be roaring,
The people will be shouting
And my spirit will be soaring
The hearts of the people are with you
And the power of heaven is saluting you
I do not know much about you, but all I know
is that the angels are watching over you
The street is crowded with window shoppers
And the markets are busy with deceptive sellers
I am humming a tune to drown out the sound
And the big screen is advertising a wedding gown
I can hear the symphony playing way out yonder and the
And the marching band is playing around the alter
I have been waiting for you so long
To come and take my hand
I still can’t imagine what took you so long
I still don’t know if it is a dream or it is reality
But I anticipate some kind of truth before the new moon
I can’t imagine the day when fire meets with fire
And destiny takes its bow at the alter
and unite us with a silent prayer
The living will not be able to contain the living
And the dead in their graves will laugh out loud
I have been waiting, waiting to meet you
Me on one side and the army marching on the other side
The world will witness it and heavens will behold it
Come, come, come and take my hand
Don’t let me wait too long.
