Waiting
Every day, I sit at my window, waiting
I’ve stayed for you-
I will stay until you come home
And every time, you do
Every time, I jump into your arms
My joy, becomes so much, I begin to cry
And yet, even as I cry
You always thank me for waiting
You start inside, with me in your arms
Like I’d somehow leave you
No matter the job that you do
No matter how long, I’ll wait for you to come home
Please, never forget your home
Never forget Mommy and I cry
And I know, even you do
But know, we’ll always be waiting
We’ll always be there for you
Waiting to hold our precious soldiers in our arms
I hear him say, while in his arms
“Next time, Daddy will stay home”
I’ll always get to see you
I won't have to cry
No more waiting
What will we do?
“We’ll do everything you want to do”
Right now, all I want, is to stay in your arms
Even though, I’ll have to go back to waiting
Next time, when you come home
I promise not to cry
I’ll never have to say goodbye to you
…
...Where are you?
...What did I do?
I didn’t break my promise, I didn’t cry
I want to be held in your arms
Please, I want you home
Please, no more waiting
I want to be with you, in your arms
What do I have to do? Why didn’t you come home?
I don’t want to cry, please, I’m tired of waiting
