Wait and See
By Laura

The city sleeps in a cloudless fog below
Leaving for the first time and perhaps the last
Penniless and hopeless, the city seems to know
These days of living desperately; the glory in the past
The mountains follow them as they choke on emptiness
Ironic transparency and the ugliness of sightless greed
Bittersweet to leave and see a past without a tryst
No love was ever shared down there; a place where angels bleed
The murky future lays somewhere below the yellow smog
Asking if I'm meant to be polluted on my own
I played the game, I danced along like everyone without a song
Three days until my destiny will tell me where I'll call my home
My heart is filled with smog, just like the city beneath my feet
One day I hope they say "hey Laura Dee, wherever you are is sweet to me"
And you will clean the ocean air and free the clouds from mountain tops
I've said it before and recently so frequently;
"I'm out of words, let's wait and see"
