Vultures In My Head
Thoughts circle my head like vultures waiting to feast on the dead
Begging to be fed
With dreams devoid of hope but full of dread
And thoughts weighed down with lead
These creatures whisper in your head
Give up they say
No one needs you to stay
Who cares if you see the light of day
I like it here but who am I to say
You pray
Lord take me away
To a place that I can flee
But always be free
From the monsters inside of me
To your terms I agree
To feel so carefree
And sit by the sea
With my cold ice tea
Under the shade of a palm tree
But I can’t leave
For I can achieve
Many things if I believe
So this deal I must cleave
And the creatures must grieve
For I still have a life to weave
