Voices In the Dark
The moon is shining bright above
There's voices on the breeze
I close my eyes and listen close
To hear the talking trees
Rustling leaves chant mystic words
As crickets sonnet sing
Treefrogs peep the warning of
What tropic winds will bring
The swaying limbs are dancing with
The clouds that block the stars
As night-time luminesence fades
Venus joins with Mars
Out there in the stratosphere
Beyond what eyes can see
We can only speculate
The things that come to be
But here on Earth we just rely
On what we only know
The caravans of weather men
And doppler radar shows
Trepedation breeds with fear
As consternation grows
Heart beats deep within my chest
And worry starts to flow
Thunder rolls and raindrops fall
The wind begins to howl
I worry what to do with me
I have no type of cowl
Trees bend right and trees bend left
Commanded by the wind
I pray for my forgiveness
And I pray for all my sins
Then just as quickly as it starts
The storm recedes its gale
Leaving me to quiver in
My triumphs and my fails
With that in mind and state of mind
Which will be surmount?
Will I rise or will I fall
Or just stay round about?
