Visiting the Pond
On a late spring day
Make your leisurely way
Down to the local pond
Where people are gathered round
Enjoying nature’s wonder
While little kids ponder
The mysteries of a frog’s life
Explained by the pastor’s wife
Flitting along the shallows
Are wee little minnows
Toddlers feeding ducks bread crumbs
Most of which land in the pond scum
Along the shore, children laughing & at play
Watch out, you better get out of the way
Some boys have started a fight
Over a lost homemade kite
