Visions of Another Kind

As our ship leaves
the harbor
       for
       parts
       unknown
our eyes search the skies for
   a sign
Visions of the past
give way to visions of another kind
Don't you realize what has happened?
  The old verities
         are
         now
glowing embers
in a room full of surprises
Like a "jack in the box" happiness
suddenly springs forth
where sadness used to hole sway
The great masters of reality
will have their say!
Isn't it time you watched the earth revolve?
As it spins our hopes grow
and are on the verge of being fuflilled
          Visions of another kind
will take us
   to new, unimagined
heights, leave us breathless
on the shore
    as wave after wave
strikes the sand
leaving their imprint
   on our shores

Yes, Matt, my sports cars (I had three or four in my lifetime) were the source of great pleasure for me and symbolic of my younger life of fun and being carefree and happy. Hard to give that up and be more down to earth. It sucks in fact!!! (to get older) Luv, Andrea

Matthew, I interpret this poem in two different fashions, yet I'll go with the least likely! This could be the stepson of Christopher Columbus as he journaled thruout many of his adventures..Can you imagine reading that manuscript?? .Delightful personifying of waves as they slap the shores...Impressive and historical, which is near and dear to this soul!

This is beautiful, Matthew. I know I'm going to read it a few times over, before finishing this comment! Yep, it gets better and better!:) Can have many facets when looked at from different angles? Global change and reconcilliation. Fresh starts and new beginnings. This adds starch to this momentarily depressed world. Best wishes, Matthew!! Mikki
