Visions In the Mist

As dawn breaks across the rugged land,
vague shapes begin to blurrily appear.
images of mythical creatures now seen
briefly then brushed away they dissolve.

Is it these images that give legends birth?
the tales of Unicorns and dragons?
The stories of three headed beasts
that wander through the mist shrouds?

Pea soup mists that you can almost push aside
abruptly vanishing as the sun burns them off.
Leaving the landscape we all know and accept
yet memories remain of fantastical things.

That re-emerge in our dreams
leaving us with uncertainty and
knowledge deep down within
that mist cloaks and blinds
what lies beyond the veils of time

Great writing, Shadow.... I am so happy to be back in the PSoup. I was out for some time but now realize how much I missed. You described, in this one, some of the same things I envision by just closing my eyes..... It's great to see you are still wielding a talented pen.... I missed you guys..... Love Ya..... Hugs.... Those fantastical things always inspire, don't they? As writers we have the ability to dream up a few of our own... I truly enjoyed your wonderful, mystical poem, Shadow. Very well penned!

I often think of people writing about things they have envisioned that they believe to be real. The more fantastical the more exciting the story handed down until it may seem as real as anything that exists. Long before books were written, stories were told, over and over, embellished with flair until they became myth. Of course some of these myths were of true origin. I love your version very much in this romanticized expression. 7

Hello Shadow, Quiet an enchanting verse write here!! The visions you portray in the mist here gives the reader much to ponder and to question perhaps "what lies beyond the veils of time." A Superb Job!! A "7" + FAV!! Best Always, Gary (P.S. I was away for the 2 1/2 months finishing my book of poetry which was just released worldwide on April 9th, entitled: "Conversations with My Muse." It's great to be back to read your poetry once again Shadow!! -- Best!! GB).
