Visions In My Rearview Mirror

Driving ninety miles per hour down the freeway know as life; visions up ahead seem foggy, clouded future filled with strife. Winding turns and blinding corners knowing not what lies ahead; road is filled with many hazards, forging on we’re faced with dread. Peering in my rearview mirror road was straighter, fewer turns; journey then was much more certain moving on with few concerns. Visions in my rearview mirror seemingly the view now clear; missing are those simple times, those certain days of yesteryear. July 22, 2020

I think looking back can help see how far we have come. It is particularly so for those like myself who were not expected to live as a young one. On any road it pays to keep your rear view mirror properly adjusted. It can also help keep in touch with friends. Excellent well balanced read that gets the reader thinking, which is what poetry is all about. Also you chose a topic that many like to discuss/mull over/relate to. Take care David in NZ

From your comments John I'm inclined to agree, time moves so fast, I think many can relate looking back over our lives both the good and the bad. Tom

Thanks for your thoughts, Tom. You're right, as we get older we all look back at out past both good and bad, it's who we are. I wrote a poem not long ago posing the question at the end "would I change it if I could" truth is I wouldn't change anything. Cheers, my friend. John

Lots of things are more appreciated when we move through life at a slower pace, but that's never the case with youth. We can't get those years back, so we forge ahead making more memories. Kind of a melancholy write, John. Hugs for you.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jenna, yes we should always make time to stop and smell the roses (but watch out for the thorns). And BTW I consider you to be in that category called "youth." ;) Hugs, John

Looking back is helpful in many ways, as we learn from moments of our past. Or so we should. Looking forward is always best. This is beautiful and emotional, all at the same time. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Thank you for saying I am a young one. With age, comes wisdom. I embrace my age everyday. :) Brandy

It seems that the older I get the faster time seems to go by and the more time I spend looking back. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and comments, Heidi. So far I have been able to avoid the virus bur it's all around me. I have two clients that are infected. Hope you are doing better as well. Hugs, John
