Vision on the Dance Floor
I step onto the dance floor,
and the world gathers in fragments~
a tremor rising through the boards,
a thin ribbon of cologne drifting past,
the soft sweep of someone moving
just beyond my reach.
The vibration steadies me,
a low, dependable pulse
that quiets the old unrest
I once carried like a second heartbeat.
I follow that pulse
the way others follow brightness,
trusting it will hold.
A hand finds mine~
warm, unhurried~
its presence a small anchor
in the shifting room.
It offers nothing but itself,
yet something inside me
loosens at the contact,
as if a faint glow
has begun to gather
behind my ribs.
Physical blindness
didn’t erase the world;
it reshaped it
into texture and breath,
into the gentle press of touch
that speaks plainly
and never pretends.
But there was another darkness~
the kind that thins intuition,
blurs instinct,
lets fear rise unchecked
until even familiar things
feel strangely distant.
That blindness hollowed me,
left me moving through days
that barely held meaning,
as though I’d misplaced
my own center.
Here, something shifts.
Music climbs through the floor,
a quiet current
lifting toward my chest.
It stirs a clarity
I thought I’d lost~
not a sudden blaze,
but a soft brightening,
a sense of being met
by something patient
and quietly sure.
I move because the rhythm
feels trustworthy again,
because the world
reveals itself
through vibration,
through breath,
through the nearness of others
whose presence I can feel
even without sight.
I see nothing,
yet everything feels legible.
This is the kind of vision
that returns only
when the body listens
and the soul
lets its own light
rise.
