Vision of Perfection
She is the vision of perfection
carefully arranging her days
and completing each task.
The cocoon of feeling in control
brings her comfort, keeping at bay
feelings of fear and want.
Neglected as a child, her need
for affirmation runs deep.
She is desperate for love.
Glancing at the mirror she
makes sure she looks happy.
Fear of rejection haunts her.
The day gone, she returns home.
Alone, in the night, the pain sets in
Leaving her in quiet desperation.
She is the vision of perfection
carefully arranging her pills
They bring comfort, keeping her
hurt at bay.
