Violin In the Darkness

Violin in The Darkness Coughing, Sobbing, wrapped in dark. On the surface, bombs make their mark. They want to be thankful for being here. Yet each person, feels the breath of fear. They hold their frightened children near. Those little faces awash with tears. A note, a glorious note. A solitary violin, filling the emptiness within. They feel a change begin. Singing above and below the madness, releases some joy within their sadness. Wrapping them in blankets of light, within this moment their minds take flight. There will be no more tears tonight. Transporting them to a happier time. Meals of celebration, toasted with glasses of wine. Each note plays a glimmer of hope. On wings of memories together they float Old and young humming along. Each pass of the bow a glorious song. Hearts feel comfort, humanity revealed. No longer locked in a shelter sealed. Fear released with rosined bow, spirits lifted on songs they know. Joined as one they feel a glow. Human hearts Transcend mens worst. Clinging to music no longer cursed. Tomorrow will be another day. Lifted on hope they listen and pray. Into forever, their angel plays. Let the Music Play on Contest.

This poem is a melody of beauty and hope to lift us up, to help us believe is goodness and light. You are the violinist sliding your bow of words gently across the strings.

Hi Yanny, in this story the people are beneath a city in Europe huddled and scared in a bomb shelter. The notes from the violin tether them to their former lives when times were happier.

Angels do teach that forever starts with a moment in the heart. Art of Hope, art of life Richard. You make hope and the beauty of angels so vivid. " Into forever their angel plays..." that's a beautiful resolve. J.A.B.

this is a fascinating, well written piece, very symbolic, and though I see it's about the second world war, it's very relevant to today, also...thanks for commenting on my poem; your wife is doing good work :)

One of the chapters in my book deals with body image and a few of my poems have been featured during eating disorder conferences. If you have an e-reader consider my book. It can be found on amazon.ca or amazon.com, 320 pages for only $7.00, less than the $20.00 for the physical book which is only here in Canada. Look it up by Author Richard J. Lamoureux. The Title is DUMMY, Hurtful and Healing Words.

Thanks, she started the program seventeen years ago. They are one of only two programs within the province using a multi disciplinary approach. They have had many successes and my wife has a real passion for her work and the women and young girls she works with. Now there are even young boys and men who suffer from the disorder.

May violence someday end and true happiness come into the world. Good perspective on a suffering world. Hope you do well in the contest. Love Mom

Richard, this is a very good one. You have such a range as a poet! Except for the mention of the bombs, I would have thought this to be about the night the Titanic sank and the poor had to stay aboard whilst the violins were playing. Is this for the one contest I am thinking of? She did a blog asking for "first person accounts" and if this was for that contest, all you would have to do is make it from the standpoint of a person who was there at this scene that you so eloquently created.

We are fortunate here in Canada, there is an ocean between us and most of the conflict in the world. I am sorry you have had to go through this awful experience.

Dear Richard, Sometimes we forget how much music can soothe our troubled lives. Your first verse reminded me of the torture and beheading of children and Christians by ISIS in Iraq. Lord, please send some angelic music their way. How beautiful this poem is! Love and blessings, Carolyn
