Violet Grape Purple Envelope

What to my wandering eye did appear,
But a grape—violet, juicy, and dear—
And a small purple envelope right near.

I found the grape tempting, stretched forth my hand;
Surprise! On the envelope it did land—
A conundrum I could not understand.

The envelope twisted beneath my palm,
Quickly shattering my internal calm.
"How can that be?" said with decided qualm.

Again, the paper shell quivered so slight,
Giving my fingers a terrible fright.
My quick twitch sent the grape into the night.

Now alone with the envelope’s mischief,
I said right out loud, “Enough of this stuff!”
And stepping back, I squished the grape—too rough.

Then, slipping on the grape’s broken skin,
I most brutally barked my left shin.
Jumping about, I bumped the table—and then...

Knocked the envelope up into the air,
Where, to my sudden alarm and despair,
It vanished—gone, like it was never there.

So, as to the meaning of envelope and grape,
I’m afraid we’ll never know... or at least be in for a wait.

This made me laugh out loud! I love how you turned a simple grape and envelope into a full-blown adventure—chaotic, silly, and completely charming. Such a wonderfully quirky story in verse!

I agree with Sara, this is clever, so creative, really shows the power of your imagination. Your pen has been busy. You must like poem fuel from the contests (like I do). This is unique, it should stand out, but then the subject is unique so maybe not, it'll be interesting to see. Me, I've got nothing, not yet.

Isn't it great that we have poetry at downtimes? (I've had my share) Continue to take care until you're back to perfect, yes, let's go with perfect. Be good to yourself. CayCay

I've been recuperating from a hospital stay...so writing is something I can do and keep busy with...getting my strength back takes longer than it used to...so yeah I've been putting time in on the keyboard.

clever and engaging poem. Seems as if the grape and the purple envelope fell down the rabbit hole or perhaps ventured into the Twilight Zone. Either way, a great contest entry
