Violence attacks humanity because violence knows nothing better. This is the sad story of a humanity gone mad with hatred, intolerance and indifference. Like darkness, violence cannot prevail against the light of love, empathy and compassion. We need to trust the Divine for inspiration to act and to meet such violent times with truth and resolve. Denial of our hurts and pains can only escalate more grief and suffering. Attack thoughts merely add fuel to the fires of hate and suspicion. Love and prayer can cause miracles of healing to flourish again. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those families directly suffering from acts of violence, and to our hurting humanity. "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me," as that familiar tune echoes. Yet, good people must be vigilant to mindfully prepare and take action to confront and to face the senseless evils that terror unleashes in our fragile times. Let our light shine to purge the egotistic darkness. Let truth and justice prevail.

The world now finds this cruel mode: Violence in kind in random nodes. Come to know truth that love may heal, Violence breeds proof that madness kills. Such violent acts so death may farm, What kind of pact that reaps more harm? Why spawn terror that fear may grow? Senseless horrors that violence sows! Bombs and bullets in sad sad craze, Deadly palette in bloody maze. Mad world awakes to terror stakes, Prime time news breaks report blasts takes! Death levels lives in sheer heartbreak, Such tragic dives in death's sure stake. Here and there see what violence blames, See bigotry in fancy name! There is a war where evil spreads, Horror finds gore in hostile raid. Karma and pain now escalate, No one can gain from mad charade. Violence speaks proud in self-destruct, Blasting so loud that bad construct. Dark is the night when mad men hunt, Let love and light sharpen times blunt. Violence now tries world's hopeless fate, Conscience now dies in mass of hate. Eye for an eye will make all blind, The meek now sigh as grim world finds. Confront conflict with justice bright, Work swift tactic and do what's right. Leon Enriquez 14 November 2015 Singapore
