Vines
we grew together
in fits and starts,
twisting and twining,
two damaged hearts
drinking in rain drops,
seeking the sun,
climbing and weaving,
but never as one
no lattice to cling to,
no wall to adorn,
strangling and choking,
a life we now mourn
