VILLA NEL
Passion does not a relationship make
Nel was a love of mine so long ago
In that villa overlooking the lake
Our time as one was short, for pity’s sake
A summer’s month offered no time to grow
Passion does not a relationship make
She left, and I was bereft in her wake
For many years now I have still felt low
In that villa overlooking the lake
Hot sun and hot blood was not hard to take
It was easy to let emotions flow
Passion does not a relationship make
Looking back, was I more than just a rake
Nel was much more than I could ever know
In that villa overlooking the lake
It was all very real and never fake
Yet still I rue the day I had to go
Passion does not a relationship make
In that villa overlooking the lake
