Vignette

Written September 1, 2016

When you hear the rolling thunder
Don't turn away
When you see the crashing lightning
Don't be afraid
'Cause you know that I'll protect you
You know I'm here to stay

I'll hold your hand throughout the darkness
And lead you to the light
That lines the end of every tunnel
A vignette on the horizon
That blurs the white and blackness
Of all our former days

From back roads that wind on through the woods
In culdesacs and neighborhoods
Rural dreams of picket fencing
To contain your fleeting fears
But beyond those hidden tears
This old house is burning down

So when you hear the rolling thunder
Don't turn away
When you see the crashing lightning
Don't be afraid
'Cause you know that I'll protect you
You know I'm here to stay
