I'm not a fan of long poems that's why I write a lot of senryu, haiku and Monoku. I do read other people's long poems but sometimes I lose focus on the poem.

I think for the most part we are aware when we write a quality piece. This one of course is comentary not poetry but it has resulted in conversation. I have witnessed your artistry through the years and you are a truely talented poet. Hugs Rick.

Eileen, I must confess that I don't comment on every poem I read but I don' t read every poem on the soup. I have this one issue. If I don't like a particular poem, I don't comment. I took the advice literally that the soup is a place for encouragement. I can't be anything if not truthful. I have one poem that has had almost 3000 views. It has about 75 comments. I don't believe all 3000 views liked it. So I'm left to assume a lot didn't. I love your work, keep it up....

Thanks, Charlie. I'm glad to read this encouraging comment from you. I try to be as honest as possible in my posts. I only gush on the poems that are really outstanding. If I've spent the time to read a poem that isn't to my liking, I try at least to pick a line or something that has merit. Thanks for the post.

Thank you, Kim. Things have been rather slow around here. One wonders about the cause. I've been away for some time and will travel again tomorrow for about 10 days. I'll try to get back into the swing of things upon my return.

I understand completely Eileen! I ALWAYS comment on the poems I read, just like you said, if you can take the time to read the poem, you can spend an extra minute leaving a comment! And it means so much to that individual to get one (at least I hope so)! I loved what you did here, integrated this Senryu into a comment frenzy, Great Work my friend!

hey eileen! i hear you loud and clear and agree with what you're saying but i'm sometimes guilty, too. there are many days i barely have time to get my own poem written and posted and then am too tired to read or comment on other poems. i do try, though, and will make an effort to try harder. i always enjoy your writing...

Hello Mr Seal...long time no hear! Glad you popped by. I get notifications when poets post on my poems. It had stopped for a while, but I get them now. I'm the last to complain because I haven't really been "here" for some time, but my last few poems seem to be bunk! Either that...or I've lost friends and popularity....Either that or....Who knows? But to have 60 views and four or five comments seems a little strange. Hope you are keeping well yourself. Thanks for the visit.

I myself haven't been as active as I'd like to be. I rarely read a poem and leave it uncommented! (a new word!) I have on occasion, I must admit. But it isn't often. Thanks for the visit, dear. Summer...is for having fun! Isn't poetry fun, though? ;)

Well said I'll be honest Eileen I don't think I've seen such apathy on the site as there is at the moment and reads and comments are hard to come by. The interest in my contest has ground to a halt so I have extended the time but I won't be hosting another one for some time if at all. Hugs Jan xx

Heidi, thanks for coming round. Yes, it's good when people write at least a little something if they have read. Doesn't need to be much and doesn't need to be dishonest. Just some thought on the content of the poem.
