Vietnam

Vietnam?
…yeah, he came home,
but there were no
stars and stripes flying,
no welcoming all American band,
not ever a medal of honor.

Vietnam?
…yeah, he came home,

…in a body bag.
now one mother cries herself to sleep,
one father drinks himself to oblivion,
and one more son,
…is still waiting
…to come home.
