Venture Back

Walking down the street
With the stars in your eyes
I look at my feet
As I walk slowly by

I see you with her
Today but never again
You weren't the guy I thought you were
Not the guy you should've been

I cross my arms tightly
And look straight ahead
I think about you nightly
But too much goes unsaid

Your locker is beside mine
I look away from you
But in the mirror I see your eyes shine
As you stare at me, through and through

We don't talk enough
Or not as much as we should
But your just you, big and tough
You and I... well we never could

Three girls in one day
You've broken the record
I don't have anything else to say
I have to pray to the Lord

But you know even if you did
Ask of me one day
I would say that you have slid
Way too far away

And if you venture back to me
To the guy I thought you were
Maybe then you will see
That you're best for me... not her...

A good poetic flow of subject ... and he bringing you into a quadrangle ... I guess that is squarer than a triangle (smile). I love the humanness ... the contemplation of the surrendered possiblity. good write.
